151.021 A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Wellendorff
When A. Lange & Söhne numbered its early Lange 1s, the reference told you how the watch was delivered: 101-series watches came on alligator, while 151-series watches wore an integrated precious-metal bracelet manufactured by Wellendorff. The ref. 151.021—yellow gold with champagne dial and a matching gold bracelet—is the bracelet counterpart to the familiar 101.021. Introduced in 1995 with the sapphire caseback, it is effortlessly elegant. And where most have been cut down, this one retains its full length (which matters quite a bit).

Wellendorff, the Pforzheim jeweler that had previously produced bracelets for Patek Philippe, got involved early in Lange history. The results were case-metal-matched, typically beaded, and built to tolerances that genuinely match the watch head—buttery in motion despite Germanic solidity. Configurations varied: most integrated examples omit lugs entirely, but a very small number of early 151.021s combine lugs with a permanently fixed bracelet—a transitional quirk collectors now hunt. This is the lugless variety, and frankly any is desirable by the market these days. Detachable bracelets are often valued far in excess of the watches themselves these days (watch dependent, of course, but generally true.
On cost and volume, precision is elusive. Ordering the bracelet option in 2003 roughly doubled the price of the leather equivalent, and Lange withdrew Wellendorff bracelets toward the latter 2000s—there genuinely aren't many. Some case numbers in the 123XXX range confirm production well into that decade. Lange has never disclosed how many 151.021s left Glashütte; all that's certain is that few did, and only a handful of these bracelets surface each year. The auction data is fairly clear: of the last five years the bracelet has become not just a desirable accessory but the asset itself.

This example comes to market in great shape overall, evidenced by the hallmarks and bezel state. The watch doesn't have its full set, but that's also priced in appropriately.
