A 3755PR, the flagship complicated Breguet of the early 2000s featuring a tourbillon, perpetual calendar, retrograde date, and complete skeletonization. Made in very small numbers, the retail price of the 3755PR was $275,000 USD in period. The openworking is expansive, with a well-resolved floral motif and sharp bevels. Each example is individually numbered on its guilloché dial. This was the utmost Breguet's watchmaking ability in the early 2000s, building on Roth's legacy through complication.

Worth Reading

The Breguet Tourbillon holds particular importance, not from the fact that Breguet invented it, but the fact that Daniel Roth spearheaded the development of the Lemania 387 ébauche for Breguet in the early years of his career. This is the ultimate conclusion of that calibre, ref. 3755PR. The 3755 was designed in the late 90s, entering production near the year 2000 and concluding by 2010. The 3755 was a considerably more audacious project, a watch honoring Roth’s aesthetic criteria set forth for Breguet, not just a tourbillon but also perpetual calendar, all skeletonized. This was a flagship, showcasing the utmost ability of Breguet in the early 2000s.

This 40mm platinum case houses a one-minute tourbillon at 6, rotating through a demarcated 30-second track. Time is offset toward 12. The month with leap indication resides at 3 and a day indication at 9. Colinear with the time, a retrograde date is given an inner track and serpentine hand. The openworking is thorough and spectacularly executed. All bridges have been opened and engraved in a floral motif, with beveled edges, concentrated sub-patterns, and an entirely unique architecture. The dial is entirely opened, relegated to guilloche-outer chapter rings and a plaque for both Breguet, the manufacture, and the example’s movement number on right—in Breguet tradition. Only the words Swiss Guilloché Main are centered, just above the tourbillon aperture. The 3755PR was made in extremely small numbers, given the RRP in period over 275K USD.

The 3755 was a halo-watch, executed with the most time-intensive forms of watchmaking complication and finishing of its time and intended to establish reputation. Its calibre 558QPSQ features immense depth, clarity of resolution in angles and intersections, and thoughtful touches like serpentine wheels to match the retrograde hand. Its cavernous tourbillon is uninterrupted directly from the Roth years, respectfully made more complicated. It is equal parts Roth and Breguet influence, executed at the highest possible level in watchmaking.
