Breguet Salmon Dial 3970EP Patek Phillipe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
There is no numeral like a Breguet numeral, and even Patek Philippe knows it. This is not a Saatchi, but well before. To commemorate the 2006 opening of the Geneva Salon, which coincided with the end of 3970 production, four special sets each with four metals were made and offered to the more most prized clients of Patek Philippe in that time. And yes, it’s Breguets all around in salmon, which is really quite something. And for those paying very close attention, the feuille hands have been altered to match.

The example was the very first of the bunch to find the market, back in 2013 at Christies. Then it hit 250K CHF. Times are different now. Then in 2025 1.5M CHF. That’s quite the curve, even for rare Patek. Across all metals just a handful have appeared. If one has the means to commission four bespoke 3970s in 2006 it’s not the hardest thing to just keep enjoying them, and likely in your best interests financially as well. It makes sense that very few have traded hands, and largely more recently now that the reference has come to power.

The real question is full Breguet, Saatchi, or Clapton? These entirely special order dial configurations (the code here is -038) are easily amongst the height of all of Patek Philippe’s productions. But there are enough configurations that there is still so question whether the apex predator is a solitary Breguet twelve or what we see in this configuration. There is no right or wrong answer, but it’s certain that what we have here is exceptional.
This example comes with the full works, from a well-regarded Dubai retailer.
