320.050 A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Daymatic Honeygold

A. Lange & Söhne launched the Lange 1 Daymatic Honeygold, ref. 320.050, on 7 December 2025. The date matters in Glashütte: F. A. Lange founded his manufacture on 7 December 1845, and Walter Lange revived by registering it again it on the same day in 1990. The edition was limited to 250 pieces. It is the first Daymatic with a Honeygold case, which measures 39.5 mm by 10.4 mm with slightly updated lug and bezel proportions. The dial is brown, obviously, solid 925 silver with Honeygold hands and appliqués, and even the date discs are brown with white numerals.

Brown is almost new territory for Honeygold. The alloy is 75% gold with copper and zinc and harder than standard 18k. It debuted on the 2010 "Homage to F. A. Lange" trio, and most Honeygold dials since have been argenté, black, white enamel or onyx. The only earlier brown-dial Honeygold was the Odysseus Honeygold of April 2025, 100 pieces on a Honeygold bracelet. There were brown dials before, notably in the 380.044 Terra Brown Saxonia made for Ginza and 181.037 Little Lange 1. But this paired it with Honeygold and that’s the best iteration hands down.

The Daymatic debuted at SIHH 2010 as the first self-winding Lange 1. It mirrors the original layout, putting the time on the right, where it shows first as a cuff slides back. A retrograde day display takes the place of the power-reserve indicator. Calibre L021.1 has 426 parts, 67 jewels, seven screwed gold chatons and 50 hours of reserve at 21,600 vph. Its rotor spans the full movement, with a platinum edge. The free-sprung balance has eccentric poising weights and an in-house hairspring, of course with a hand-engraved balance cock.

The first Daymatics came with either English (MTWTFSS) or German (MDMDFSS) day scales, and the retrograde hand climbs from Monday at the bottom to Sunday at the top. This was the 17th Honeygold Edition and Lange has made just 2,135 Honeygold watches in total—about 3% of its production since 2010. It is also only the fourth Honeygold Lange 1-family piece. The others are the 2010 Tourbillon, a 20-piece model from 2015 that was never announced and has a pale yellow grained dial, and the 2016 Time Zone. Although not yet a year old, it is already a desirable, beautiful Daymatic configuration and to be envied.
