730.032, 1815 Tourbillon, Pink Gold

When A. Lange & Söhne unveiled the 1815 Tourbillon at SIHH 2014, it was the manufacture's sixth tourbillon since the 1994 rebirth—yet the first with a genuinely new argument. Lange fused two of its own patents into a world first: the hacking tourbillon from 2008's Cabaret Tourbillon and the zero-reset mechanism from the Sax-0-Mat. Pull the crown and a V-shaped spring brakes the balance and cage dead while the seconds hand snaps to twelve. As Anthony de Haas, director of product development, put it, the watch "not only runs with the utmost accuracy, it can also be set with superb precision." This pink gold ref. 730.032 underpins the model as the sole non-limited release, featuring an argenté dial with blued hands (including seconds). 

The dial is pure 1815: solid silver with printed Arabic numerals, a railway minute track evoking F.A. Lange's pocket watches, and blued-steel alpha hands over a 39.5 mm case just 11.1 mm tall. At six, the aperture reveals a 13.2 mm cage copied from Lange pocket watch no. 82013, its three curved, closed-end arms black-polished, crowned by a diamond pivot in a screwed gold chaton—a flourish reserved for the firm's 19th-century 1A-quality watches. Behind the three-quarter plate of untreated German silver, the hand-wound calibre L102.1 holds 262 parts, beats at 21,600 vph, and stores 72 hours of reserve with a hand-engraved cock and freely oscillating in-house hairspring.

The 730.032 has anchored the line ever since 2014, while rarities orbit it: the 30-piece Handwerkskunst of 2015, the 100-piece white enamel platinum of 2018—when the pink gold also traded its fully polished case band for alternating brushed finishing—and 2025's 50-piece black enamel edition. Lange never discloses production, but tourbillon output is a trickle of its few thousand annual watches; a decade of 730.032 production likely totals a few hundred pieces. 

The 730.032 exhibits the type of genuinely new innovation—through multiple new mechanisms in harmony—which we typically associate with independent watchmakers. The 1815 Tourbillon brings a new take on precision within the historic tourbillon canon, interpreted through the most traditional aesthetic criteria Germany offers. 

This 730.032 presents in excellent overall condition. Its case is strong with light signs of occasional careful use. The dial is flawless. Calibre L102.1 is running well in specification on our timing equipment. This example does with its full set including deployant and two straps.
