Cool Hunting, a notable online design media publication, released a collaboration last year with Nomos. You will be familiar with Nomos for their ultra-modern, design focussed, and value-based Glashütte style. However, you may not be familiar with Nomos’s limited editions. They don’t tend to do many. Omega, the Germans are not. When Nomos do stretch to create LEs, it’s normally for a good cause. They’ve celebrated the Glashütte region, collaborated with Doctors Without Borders, and (last year) created this Cool Hunting LE to celebrate pride and the Trevor Project.
Think of this series of bright, rainbow-dialed Club Campus 38s as Nomos’s Stella Oyster Perpetual (only limited). In that framework, this release makes total sense. Twenty-two examples were released in six bright colors. The collaboration came out while we were all stuck at home toward the latter end of the pandemic’s height. I found the bright nod to the future a tasteful and optimistic release, not only because I’m a fan of Cool Hunting’s design-based journalism. It only seems logical that the collaboration of two design-focussed powerhouses would create something strikingly modern. The CC38 is a spectacular watch in any guise, however a majority of Nomos models are released in Bauhaus palettes. Like the Stella OPs, one might as well go bold with color if they’re going in at all.
This example has a light surface wear and tiny mark across its highly polished bezel. Other than that, it’s in spectacular condition. The case back is only lightly worn and it comes with a full set from a private party.
