Jenny Accurist Super Submarino

Watchmaker Jenny created a monocoque cases designed for Valjoux movements in the early 60s. The patent design was named ‘Monobloc Triple-Safe’. The brand licensed their tech to Jacques Monnat, Dugena, Ollech & Wajs, Haste, Jacquet Droz, Fortis, Aquadive and Philip Watch. The design even served as a base for early Doxa designs. From there forward, the brand created a wide variety of colorful divers and chronographs. Jenny’s tool watches are becoming more collected as Rolex and other dive classics are grow unattainable. This Accurist variant is a bright and light-hearted Landeron 349 chronograph with an appeal all its own.

Jenny introduced a two register chronograph called the 2002 and and three register called the 2003 in the late 60s. Those early pieces utilized the Valjoux 72. These models introduced a screw case back and served as a basis for this Landeron-based Accurist design. The dial is colorfully accented and lumed The grey ghosted bezel was once a deep blue. The watch has all the hallmarks of a great vintage manually wound chronograph.

This example is quite strong. The plexi crystal shows honest bumps, same with its case. Yet the shape is still strong, which is what tends to matter most to collectors these days. The case back insignia is strong with its fun diver/fish themed line drawing. Its lume is intact and matched. The movement is not shown, which might be a good thing to inquire about. No service history, box, or papers are included. Nonetheless, its an attractive proposition and something a bit off the beaten path.
