3417, Amagnetic, Steel

$82,000

A ref. 3417 Amagnetic, a Calatrava-like peer which blurs the line between utilitarian purpose and the refinement of a formal dress watch. Well before the Nautilus, this was in its day the sole Patek Philippe reference to be made exclusively in steel (including its bracelet sister-reference 3418). It features a 35mm case with sculptural lugs, Stern dial with an art-deco 12 and handwritten Amagnetic font, and highly engineered antimagnetic manual calibre 12″-400 AM. This 1959 example features an early production ‘Type 1’ dial with a larger petite seconds, no Swiss signature, and indices which run all the way to the dial’s edge. From 1958 until 1968, it is estimated that fewer than 500 examples were made of the 3417.
