7536-2, Tropical Dial Valjoux 72 Chronograph, Steel

$72,000

A ref. 7536-2, Ulysse Nardin’s most highly collected chronograph. This example sports the deepest tropical dial observed to date, an even caramel tone developed thanks to much of its life spent in the Caribbean. Aesthetically, the 7536 closely resembles early pump pusher Cosmograph Daytonas, but is more carefully made in several key areas (including fine hand finishing techniques on its calibre) and slightly larger. Additionally, it is an order of magnitude less common than early Daytonas, exceptionally rare to the extent that only a handful have appeared for sale in the last few decades. The 7536 is one of the great 1960s chronographs lost to time, a high-water mark for classically sporting Ulysse Nardin.
