1 of 50 ‘Al Naboodah’ 15313ST Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

I don’t know anything about Al Naboodah, an Emirati family holdings group. But I do know they’re doing alright fiscally, because if you’re not you don’t get to order a small run of 50 Royal Oaks with your brand logo colors around a few indices. On the surface, this is a very simple vanity play for a few high level employees of a very wealthy conglomerate. But for what it’s worth, which is very little to anyone who’s not a serious AP collector, this is one of the most playful takes on the Royal Oak that I’ve ever seen AP green light.

Their logo, visible on the display back around the rotor pivot, is quite unique in its two blues, yellow, and purple. At a first glance, you see them in the indices from 6-9. But if you look closer, you’ll note that the handset and AP logo have both been blacked out to more closely match the 6 marker and provide a little more visual balance. These were created for the company’s 50th anniversary on the base ref. 15313ST, fittingly in just 50 examples. The market has taken quite a liking to the few examples which have come up for sale though, and they seem to be trading hands for rather audacious sums. It’s not a complicated watch in the metaphorical or physical sense, but nonetheless I quite like it.

This one still has plastic on the bracelet, and comes with a full set. I don’t see a mark against it, quite literally. It comes from a well-regarded California retailer.
